About this item
The Khutuli (also known as Xutuli) is a small, rounded wind instrument traditionally shaped from bamboo, though clay versions also exist across Assam. Played by blowing across a small hole cut into its body, it produces a gentle, whistling call reminiscent of the Asian koel bird, adding a soft melodic layer to Bihu music alongside the Dhol, Pepa and Gogona. Compact and light, this handcrafted bamboo Khutuli is easy to carry and play, and makes for both a functional folk instrument and a charming piece of Assamese craft to display.
