About this item
This handcrafted Dhol is the heartbeat of Assam's Bihu festival, carved from a single hollowed log of Kothal (jackfruit) wood prized for its resonance and durability. Both ends of the cylindrical body are sealed with tautly-laced goat-skin membranes secured by leather straps and rings, giving the drum its signature dual tone — a brighter note from the side struck with a slender bamboo stick, and a deep bass from the side played by hand. Traditionally slung across the shoulder of a dhuliya (drummer), this dhol has been central to Bihu performances, weddings and rituals for generations. A genuine piece of Assamese craft heritage for your home or ensemble.

Care/Usage
Keep away from direct sunlight, high humidity and rain to prevent the wooden shell from warping and the leather membrane from loosening. Wipe the wooden body with a dry soft cloth after use; avoid water contact with the skin heads. Store upright in a cool, dry place and loosen the lacing slightly during long storage.
Colour/Look
Warm reddish-brown wooden barrel body with contrasting black-lined leather drumheads and natural leather lacing running around the rims.
