About this item

This Suj Bati is a traditional round-bottomed Assamese dining bowl handcrafted in bell metal (Kansa) by the metalsmiths of Sarthebari and Hajo. The interior is polished to a bright golden shine, while the lower outer body carries a darkened, unpolished finish typical of hand-beaten kansa ware. It measures about 16 cm in diameter and 8 cm in height. Use it to serve dal, curries, rice or payas at everyday meals and festive feasts. Kansa bowls are treasured in Assamese homes and make a meaningful heirloom gift for weddings, Bihu and house-warming occasions.

Care/Usage

Usage: Ideal for serving rice, curries, sweets and daily meals; also suited to puja and festive use. Avoid heating directly on flame and avoid storing sour or acidic food for long periods.Care: Wash with mild soap or traditional tamarind/lemon and ash scrub, rinse and wipe dry immediately with a soft cloth. Do not use steel wool or harsh abrasives. Polish occasionally with pitambari or lemon and salt to restore the shine.
