About this item

The Bota is a traditional Assamese pedestal tray used to present tamul-paan, sweets and offerings to honoured guests. This piece is tightly handwoven by artisans of Northeast India, with a wide, shallow bowl that flares out from a sturdy conical stand. The close circular weave in natural golden brown gives it a warm, timeless finish. Measuring 17 x 22 cm and weighing about 100 g, it is ideal for serving fresh fruits, dry snacks and sweets, for puja and ceremonies, or as a centrepiece on dining and coffee tables. A graceful gift for weddings, Bihu and housewarmings.
