About this item

This Horai is the iconic Assamese offering tray with stand, handcrafted from brass (Pital) by the metalsmiths of Sarthebari and Hajo. A shallow tray sits on a slender turned stem with a stepped round base, and is covered by a domed lid with an embossed floral band and a pointed spire. The screw system lets the parts be separated for cleaning and storage. It stands about 33 cm tall. Horai is used to offer tamul-paan to guests, for felicitation, at Namghar and puja, and as a proud symbol of Assamese culture on display.
