About this item

This Ban Bati 2 is an Assamese pedestal bowl handcrafted in bell metal (Kansa) by the metalsmiths of Sarthebari and Hajo. The rounded bowl carries delicate engraved bands below the rim and sits on a slim, waisted stem with a ringed, flared foot. It has a pale golden finish with a soft silvery sheen. It measures about 14 cm in height and 14 cm across the mouth. Use it for serving payas, sweets and curries, or for offerings during puja and Namghar rituals. An elegant addition to festive dining and a lasting heirloom gift.

Care/Usage

Usage: Ideal for serving rice, curries, sweets and daily meals; also suited to puja and festive use. Avoid heating directly on flame and avoid storing sour or acidic food for long periods.Care: Wash with mild soap or traditional tamarind/lemon and ash scrub, rinse and wipe dry immediately with a soft cloth. Do not use steel wool or harsh abrasives. Polish occasionally with pitambari or lemon and salt to restore the shine.
