About this item

This framed artwork features a hand-embroidered Xorai, the revered ceremonial plate of Assam, draped with a red and white Gamosa, stitched on natural jute canvas. The embroidery uses rich red, white, gold and black threads to bring out the Xorai's layered form. It is set in a maroon wooden frame with a cream mount. Measuring about 28 x 23 cm, it can be hung on walls or placed on tables and shelves. An elegant felicitation gift and a proud symbol of Assamese hospitality. Being handcrafted, slight variations in colour, size and pattern make each piece unique.
